Blue Yeti Professional Recording Microphone Stand - UnBoxing , Review & Setup

In today's review, we will take a look at how to properly & securely mount your Blue Yeti to a budget friendly Microphone Stand to get a Professional Recording Setup.

Here's the list of parts for our little project :-
  • Neewer Swivel Stand
  • Neewer Microphone Clip
  • Neewer Table Clamp
  • Neewer Pop Filter
  • On-Stage 5/8" to 3/8" Metal Adapter
  • Generic Tension Springs (use if required)

The three important things you need to know about the budget friendly Neewer swivel stand are :-
  • Maximum supported weight of 1,500g
  • Mount bolt thread size of 3/8"
  • Table clamp extends up to 2 ¼"

Before we can mount the Blue Yeti, the table top stand must be detached by removing the two (2) thumb screws. You will also need to remove the dust cap located on the bottom of the Blue Yeti. The dust cap protects the 5/8" shock mount hole.

The Blue Yeti by itself had a measured weight of 522g which is less than the swivel stand maximum supported weight of 1,500g. Consequently, the remaining weight capacity of 978g will be sufficient to accommodate the pop filter and a future aluminium shock mount attachment.

In case you were curious - the table top stand, thumb screws & dust cap had a measured weight of 824g. This is what we would expect for a larger stand and is a plus for keeping the Blue Yeti on your desk.

Next, we will use a 5/8" to 3/8" metal adapter to securely mount the Blue Yeti to the 3/8" bolt on the swivel stand. You could also use the removable plastic adapter attached to the end of the microphone clip.

However, the metal adapter is less likely to fail from prolonged use once the Blue Yeti is mounted on the swivel stand. You can proceed to carefully thread the 5/8" metal adapter into the 5/8" shock mount hole until it is firmly in place - do not over tighten.

Next, we attach the USB Cable, Pop Filter & Blue Yeti to the swivel stand. Be sure to route & secure the usb cable with nylon zip ties leaving a flex loop where necessary.

Finally, mount the swivel stand to the desk with the included table clamp. You will now be able to use the Blue Yeti while sitting or standing.

We were quite impressed with the overall design & construction of this budget friendly swivel stand. The original tension springs made it possible to move or re-position the Blue Yeti with easy so they were not upgraded.
